So I might not make my midnight deadline, but whatever. It’s a matter of priorities, and the uke is currently my top one. (Isn’t it pretty?? and yes. I can play it.)

List of songs I’ve mastered:

2. Tied Down (Colbie Caillat) - I know. She can be annoying, but I like this song.

3. Screw/F*** You (“The Gooch” and Ted from Scrubs/Kate Micucci) - It’s quirky and cute. I had to.

I’m also working on I’m Yours, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and Don’t Stop Believing. I’ll figure out Toxic when I’m a little better. So there’s the ukulele update :)

Because I have yet to say it, my summer plans are as follows: Monday/Wednesday are Aspen hell-i-days and Tuesday/Thursday/Friday, I am at an internship at the Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield. My free time is usually spent crashing on the couch with either my ukulele or a 1000-piece puzzle. (Exciting, I know.)

Hands-down most exciting and rewarding aspect of my summer is the internship. I work with Barb Byrd, the marketing manager, and do everything she asks. Most of my work consists of pumping up the hype for the facebook group for the theatre, which, I am proud to say, has more than doubled its fanbase over the last three weeks. I have also created a twitter account for the theatre (RenTheatre). Unfortunately, due to the low amount of current activities and shows, there is not much to tweet about. At the beginning of the season, the Ren should be tweeting like crazy, so stay tuned!

My proudest moments thus far have been creating two posters for the Renaissance: one for the summer musical, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” and one for “Neos Dances with the Stars”. I think they are pretty good, given my small experience with graphics. I especially love the Neos poster, but its greatness is mostly due to the fabulous photo that is the centerpiece for the poster, taken by Dale Dong. Once the poster is officially looked over and finalized, I will probably post it here to get your thoughts and opinions. I have also made a poster for the summer organ concerts, but it is horrendously boring looking. (How do you make an organ poster exciting?!?!?)

While most people are shopping for Christmas presents for miscellaneous relatives and baking festive sugar cookies and gingerbread cookies, I have thought about New Year’s Resolutions.

I am not a general fan of the idea of a “New Year’s Resolution” because I basically think it is a bunch of crap. It’s a cop out for people to change something about themselves once a year, and the rest of the year they can suffer with several self-esteem issues and have numerous thoughts of changing certain aspects of their lives. My philosophy about life has developed into the cliche “no time like the present” thought-process. If you have something so disheartening about yourself, CHANGE IT NOW! Don’t wait until the New Year!

New Year’s Resolutions rarely stick, anyway. For example, my junior year of high school, I decided to be a nicer person. It lasted twelve minutes and fell to pieces because of a snide remark I made to (and about) my best friend. Oops. Also, New Year’s Dieting infamously fails.

I just think that resolutions should be a constant occurrance. Stop waiting for excuses to fix your problems, and do not give up on these resolutions once you have started. That means your first resolution has to be confidence, not only with how you act, but also with who you are.

Let’s give it up for the new year :)
